Maya Guttmann

Maya is passionate about helping people come together in meaningful ways to build relationships and create change.  

With a background in ecology and Indigenous-led stewardship, she is constantly learning about the complexities of interrelated social and ecological systems. Her Masters research and previous work supporting Nations in stewardship initiatives have given her experience in the critical role of dialogue and knowledge exchange in Indigenous stewardship processes and governance. In her role at Compass, she holds space for diverse ways of knowing and being in decision making processes and governance structures. She brings skilled facilitation, ecological understandings, and continuous self-reflection to her work.  

Maya holds a B.Sc. in environmental science from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Resource Management from Simon Fraser University. She has also studied at the Haida Gwaii Institute and conducted ecological research on the BC coast, Northern Canada, and lower mainland.
