Open Discussion: History of Nechako Reservoir

  • Posted by Compass Resource Management

We’ve been discussing how important it is to learn more about the local context and history of our projects to gain new perspectives and deeper understandings in our work. One place where this has been made clear recently is on the Nechako river, where some of us at Compass are assisting in the development of a water use plan for the Nechako Reservoir.

This video shares some of the history of the Cheslatta Carrier Nation, whose traditional territory the Reservoir is on. The profound impacts of past and ongoing policy on the Cheslatta people are important context for today’s management and decision making.

In the video, Senior Policy Advisor Mike Robertson presents the history of Cheslatta Carrier Nation.
