How can we support implementation of the DRIPA Action Plan?

Following on our May conversation, our June Reconciliation conversation did a deeper dive into the Service Plans and Budgets of a number of ministries (e.g., Ministry of Land, Water, and Resource Stewardship, Ministry of Forests, Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation). Our hope was to gain more insight into how the implementation of DRIPA is being resourced and prioritized. This proved to be a challenge, since in most cases, budgets do not appear to set aside new resources for implementation. We wondered about the role of the DRIPA Secretariat (which is a resourced body). We reflected on the various challenges for developing new G2G processes and structures, given the dual pressure of institutional capacity gaps, and an increasing number of extreme emergency events. We brainstormed ideas for how we might directly contribute skills, knowledge, tools, and leadership to help get things done; or assist in building capacity of the teams we work with (coaching, mentorship, training).
