Dan is a recognized leader in structured decision making and technical process facilitation and has experience that spans environmental and climate adaptation planning, community infrastructure assessments, and international development.

Dan holds a Masters of Science in Environmental and Natural Resources Planning from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelors of Science in Engineering from the University of Manitoba.

What is something most people don’t know about you (but will now)?

GuitarToolkit is the most heavily used app on my iPhone.

What is the best thing a client has ever said to you?

“Thanks – I thought we had no hope of reaching agreement today. You herd cats really well.”

Because I wake up thinking “this stuff really matters”.

What was your first job?

Shoveling snow and rounding up shopping carts at the grocery store.

Who was your favourite teacher and why?

Dr. Trim – I wish that his passion was contagious.

If you were on a trans-atlantic flight, feeling chatty, and could pick anyone — alive or dead, real or fictional — to sit beside who would it be and why?

Neil Young – would like to know how he feels about Greendale relative to his other projects.

What do you know now that you wish you’d known 10 years ago?

How quickly my kids would grow up.

Looking out from a peak or ridge after a tough ski or scramble.
